"Operation Chromite" Tops $1 Million, Expanding Across Military Bases

Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) to Release Korean War Film at Military Bases Worldwide
 
With "Operation Chromite" topping $1 million at the box office in North America this weekend, the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), the oldest and largest of the Department of Defense's exchange services for military personal, has announced that it will release "Operation Chromite" on 71 of the movie theaters that it operates starting September 16, 2016.The bases will span both the US with 34 screens and the rest of the world with 38 screens in countries such as Japan, South Korea, Kuwait, Great Britain, Germany and more. The decision to release the film comes after a very positive reception following 11 special screenings held at base theaters across the county on August 6, prior to the films official release.
 
This was the film's fourth weekend of release and as of today has a total box office of $1,000,769 (source: Rentrak). "Operation Chromite" ranked 19th in weekday location average and 28th in weekend location average this past week. The film is now playing at many theaters nationwide. In South Korea, the number of admissions surpassed seven million.
 
From Taewon Entertainment, "Operation Chromite" has already seen success domestically surpassing seven million in admissions. The film tells the true story of the heroes whose lives were sacrificed in order to turn the tide of the Korean War. Liam Neeson stars as General MacArthur, who led the attack against the North Koreans in the Battle of Incheon, forcing them to retreat out of Seoul.
 
"Operation Chromite" is directed by John H. Lee ("The Third Way of Love", "71-Into the Fire", "Sayonara Itsuka" and "A Moment to Remember") and is produced by Jeong Tae-won (the upcoming film "Monstrum", "Triangle - Drama", "71-Into the Fire" and "IRIS"). In addition to Liam Neeson, "Operation Chromite" also stars Lee Jung-jae as South Korean Captain Jang Hak-soo ("The Assassination", "The New World", "The Thieves" and "The Housemaid - 2010"), Lee Beom-soo as North Korean Commander Lim Gye-Jin ("The Divine Move", "IRIS 2" and "The City of Violence"), and Jin Se-Yeon as Han Chae-sun ("Enemies In-Law" and "Doctor Stranger").
