[Orion's Daily Ramblings] "A Korean Odyssey" Drops a Ton of Promotional Goodies

Aside from Cha Seung-won turning into a talent show judge, we have character descriptions for many a new face from "A Korean Odyssey". Yoon Dae-sik (Jang Gwang) is a top conglomerate CEO, but his wealth does not change the fact that he is a loyal subordinate of Son Oh-gong (Lee Seung-gi) who enjoys taking care of his boss by doing household chores for him. Sung Ji-ru plays Master Soo Bo-ri, a teacher of martial arts to Oh-gong and a friend to the Bull Demon King. He is a messenger who conveys the will of the deities' world to the human world. Sung Hyuk plays Dong Jang-goon, a conversation buddy for Oh-gong and an advisor on all things exorcism.

Then we have characters with more worldly worries and desires. Lee Han-joo (Kim Sung-oh) is the only employee of the heroine's real estate agency and while he is creeped out by all the happenings surrounding her person, he sticks around for the good pay. Kang  Dae-seong's (Song Jong-ho) goals are more ambitious. The history professor from a prestigious family wants to be the country's president and he uses his polite personality and good looks to woo women voters.

Yoon Bora's character is quite an interesting one. Originally the son of the dragon king, son dearest messes up royally by falling for a woman and stealing from the palace. He is exiled to the human world, and with the help of the Bull Demon King (Cha Seung-won), he becomes the beautiful diva, Alice. I wonder if our demon king is a big softie taking shunned deities under his wing.

Whatever criticism I may have about the Hong sisters, they do feature all manner of under-represented groups in their shows and they mostly manage to do it with a rare level of sensitivity and respect. I don't think our king-turned-starlet will necessarily be such a character, since we're dealing with a supernatural creature in a unique situation, but it's still an interesting inclusion if they don't solely play the character's duality up for laughs.

The drama has released new posters, which are kind of boring, to be honest. We also have new teasers playing on the dynamics between the three leads and of course teasing the romance. This is a Hong sister drama, after all. We can't get away from the wrist grabs and body pulls, but they have managed to featured those before without completely ruining their female lead for it, so let us pray to the demon gods that the sisters go back to those good ol' times once more.
