[Orion's Daily Ramblings] Choi Kang-hee's "A Midsummer's Memory"

If you've missed the queen of "Queen of Mystery" as much as I have, then rejoice! We get a glimpse of her in a new two-episode project before the year's end. Choi Kang-hee plays Han Yeo-reum (the name itself means midsummer), a radio show writer approaching her 40s and rediscovering love in quite an awkward setting through her currently airing show.

The writer is a woman who was once sought after and popular, but nowadays feels lonely and unloved. She has a bit of a complicated, awkward relationship with her co-worker, PD Oh Je-hoon (Tae In-ho), and I imagine things become even more uncomfortable when her old flame Park Hae-joon (Lee Joon-hyuk) joins up as a guest in their program.

I can't say I'm in love with the maybe-love triangle concept and how the heroine's age is used as some sort of expiration date on love, but then again many a show is there so subvert or chastise societal standards and their pressure. What I do know is that Choi Kang-hee can carry this role well and so I wish to see this, at least some day.

The drama will air two episodes back to back on December 31st starting at 20:40 KST on jTBC. It is produced by Sim Na-yeon ("Hip Hop Teacher") and written by Han Ga-ram.
