[Orion's Daily Ramblings] Jo Bo-ah Joins Yoo Seung-ho in Cheerful Revenge Rom-Com "My Strange Hero"

I've seen my share of dysfunctional romances in Korean drama, but a romantic comedy based on revenge against the other party is really pushing that envelope. Jo Bo-ah has joined "My Strange Hero" as said party, the first love of Yoo Seung-ho's character, and the target of his revenge. Here's hoping for a huge misunderstanding.

Yoo Seung-ho plays Kang Bok-soo, whose first name is the epitome of subtlety, as it actually means revenge. Bok-soo was expelled from high-school after being framed as a perpetrator of violence, with his first love and another friend being the ones who have betrayed him. The drama is a 'cheerful school romance' about him re-entering the same school as an adult in order to have his revenge. Yep, sounds cheerful.

Jo Bo-ah plays Son Soo-jong, and although she was a top student back in her school days, she has been repeatedly failing to pass the teachers' certification exam. This brings her back to her alma mater, where she works as a fixed term teacher. It is there where she reunites with Bok-soo, and where their ill-fated relationship will need some major airing out. Hopefully of the 'my future wife did not actually ruin my future' variety.

Jo Bo-ah has shared that she is happy to be starring in a romantic comedy, a genre she has wanted to try. She has also expressed her fondness for the script, and her wish to convey that excitement to viewers. I'm not sure how the whole 'cheerful revenge' bit is going to work, but I've seen stranger things happen. "My Strange Hero" will follow "Where Stars Land" on SBS.
