[Orion's Daily Ramblings] Kim Hae-sook May Join Kim Hee-sun and Kim Young-kwang in Body-Swap Drama "Room No.9"

My wishes might be answered, as body swap drama "Room No.9" is courting the brilliant Kim Hae-sook to join its main cast, which may also include Kim Hee-sun and Kim Young-kwang. All three actors are currently reviewing their offers. If Kim Hae-sook accepts, she will be playing the death row inmate her co-lead swaps mortal coils with.

"Room No.9" is the story of a lawyer who switches bodies with the aforementioned death row inmate held at a cell of the CheongJu Women's Prison called "Room No.9". The success driven lawyer begins reassessing her life when she becomes a 50-something prisoner with terminal pancreatic cancer, and a remaining lifespan of only two months.

Kim Hae-sook would play Jang Hwa-soo, the culprit of an infamous poisoning murder case that shook the country. She is the oldest death row inmate, whose execution has been postponed for 33 years. She used to be in the accounting department of the predecessor for SC Group, Sewoong Trading Company starting at age 19, where she worked hard for 3 years in order to earn the founder's trust. She carries animosity for this period of her life, so my guess is that this is where things went wrong.

According to reports, Kim Hee-sun is still considering the role of lawyer Eul Ji-hae, who will be swapping bodies with the inmate, while Kim Young-kwang has been offered to play Gi Yoo-jin, a family physician and Ji-hae's boyfriend. He will reportedly play a crucial part in returning her to her own body. I am mostly pleased with this cast, and we should be getting confirmations or rejections soon. It's definitely not a pleasant-sounding story, but it's a women's story featuring older actresses, so I'm going to count my blessings and hope it's a good one.

"Room No.9" is looking at a release in the second half of the year, possibly in September. It is written by Jeong Seong-hee, who has worked on dramas such as "The Merchant: Gaekju 2015" and "Princess Ja Myung Go", and directed by PD Ji Yeong-soo of "Falling For Innocence" and "Big Man", among others.
