[Orion's Daily Ramblings] Main Character Information for "Drama Stage - Our Place's Tasty Soybean Paste"

We have another one approaching from tvN's Drama Stage series and this one-act work seems to be all about family. "Drama Stage - Our Place's Tasty Soybean Paste" has cast Myung Se-bin, Yoo Eun-mi, Lee Chun-hee and Tae Hang-ho in this hopefully heartwarming story about taking care of our own.

Yoo Eun-mi plays Han A-i, a child living with her maternal grandmother until the latter passes away. A-i's mother, who had until then withdrawn from society, reappears and starts working as a kitchen assistant in a restaurant in front of her house, in order to take care of A-i. When A-i's mother falls ill, the young lady takes over her work position in order to keep her healthy and fed. I'm not sure how that works with her being underage, but we'll see.

Han  Jeong-hee (Myung Se-bin) is A-i's mother. Once a great lyricist and a big name in the Korean music industry, Jeong-hee fell from celebrity grace when she was caught in a scandal with a married producer. I'm not sure why that means she had to abandon her child, if I'm understanding the premise correctly, or if it was even the reason behind that decision, but perhaps there's more to the story and why she left. There's often that one reason to morally cleanse such characters in dramas after all.

The doenjang jjigae (fermented soybean paste stew) restaurant owner, Jang Gi-bok (Lee Chun-hee) used to be the lead vocalist of a rock band, until he had to take charge of the restaurant after his grandmother's passing. He seems prickly, but he is a warm person who is of great support to A-i.

Tae Hang-ho plays Gi-bok's band guitarist and a part time worker at the restaurant. He has an innocent, child-like personality and he still finds joy in pure things despite his age. I think his character could be an interesting foil to A-i, who sounds like a young lady forced to grow up before her time.

"Drama Stage - Our Place's Tasty Soybean Paste" will be broadcast on the 20th of January, on tvN.
