[Orion's Daily Ramblings] Meet the Characters of "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" Through New Posters

We've already seen the basic descriptions for the four leads of upcoming 'inner growth' drama "My ID is Gangnam Beauty", and the recently released character posters give us a little summary of what they're all about, with the news attached to them providing some more detail. Heroine Kang Mi-rae enters a wild campus life that will change her, hopefully for the better.

Mi-rae's (Im Soo-hyang) poster reads 'I have beauty, but what about a nickname?' The news piece attached elaborates that, following cosmetic surgery, the once bullied young lady has become the beauty that she wanted to be, but she has somehow lost her confidence even more. She dreamed of a carefree youth, but she jumped into a campus environment wilder than a jungle.

Her beau, Do Kyeong-seok (Cha Eun-woo) is less pleasant. 'His face is angelic, his personality hellish', the poster reads. Although his personality being described as hellish is very accurate, he shows a surprising change in temperament when he's in Mi-rae's presence. In other words, a textbook case of the mighty 'tsundere'.

The second leads have their own troubles relating to the facade they put out. Hyeon Soo-ah's (Jo Woo-ri) poster reads 'An appearance egoist who wants to be the only one receiving attention'. After understanding some harsh truths when she was bullied as a child for being pretty, and knowing that people will become annoyed with a pretty girl who knows that she is pretty, every action of hers has been one big act.

Yeon Woo-yeong (Kwak Dong-yeon) laments 'My 'brilliant' youth? My 'debt-ridden' youth!' in his own poster. Although he looks like a rich family's son, his tuition is paid by a scholarship, his income is earned through part time jobs, and he even gets allowance from his parents. He's a 'savings superman'. I like the hint of stereotype subversion we see in these, so I hope the drama delivers. "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" will premiere next Friday, July 27th on jTBC.
