[Orion's Daily Ramblings] "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" Kicks off Promotion with Script Reading Stills

Upcoming outer and inner transformation drama "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" has kicked off its production, and its first promotional boost comes in the form of script reading news and stills, revealing its youthful main cast and some fun supporting names. The jTBC drama aims high when it comes to its subject matter, which is good to see.

The script reading for "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" was held on the 30th of May, and attending alongside PD Choi Seong-beom and writer Choi Soo-yeong were actors Im Soo-hyang, Cha Eun-woo, Jo Woo-ri, Kwak Dong-yeon, Park Joo-mi, Woo Hyun, Min Dohee, Choi Sung-won, Lee Tae-sun and more.
The production side has commented on their goals, stating ""My ID is Gangnam Beauty" is an "inner growth" drama about Kang Mi-rae (Im Soo-hyang), who has been teased since childhood, entering a new life, society and university, and having new experiences with the people that she meets there. We want to make a great drama about growth that will be different to previous dramas tackling the topic of plastic surgery".
It sounds like the beauty within, and the process of growing and finding new facets of oneself and one's life will be the focus, and it all sounds pretty great, assuming they stand by it. The heroine will still be the very pretty Im Soo-hyang, so I'm curious if the drama can tackle self-acceptance without praising conformity. Early information released about her continued struggles after her makeover is promising. It's a wait and see for me, and I'll be doing said seeing in July, when the drama premieres after currently airing "Sketch - Drama".
