Over 1,000 Fans Gather for Memorial Service for Park Yong-ha

2013/07/01 | 2008 views | Permalink | Source

Over 1,000 fans, including family members, of Park Yong-ha showed up for an event in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province on Sunday marking the third anniversary of the death of the actor and singer, who shocked the nation by taking his own life in 2010.

In the afternoon, a photo exhibition was held elsewhere in Seoul in commemoration of his achievements, during which clips from his concerts and dramas were screened.

Starting from April, pre-memorial services have been held in the Japanese cities of Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka, Sapporo and Tokyo. Last year, over 1,200 Japanese fans visited Korea and braved the pouring rain to attend a memorial service.

After making his debut with a TV drama in 1994, Park gained popularity in Japan after appearing in the hit TV soap "Winter Sonata" in 2002. He committed suicide at the age of 33 in 2010.
