Film director Park Chan-wook's next project will be the BBC miniseries "The Little Drummer Girl" based on the 1983 John le Carré novel, the Daily Mail reported last Saturday.

Park's last film was "The Handmaiden" last year and it is his first international project since "Stoker" in 2013.

"The Little Drummer Girl" was already made into a film by George Roy Hill in 1984.

Florence Pugh will star as Charlie, an actress who becomes a double agent as she falls in love with another spy, in the six-part drama. Shooting is to begin in the first half of next year.

Park has established himself as one of the most sought-after directors with an impressive filmography that includes "Oldboy", "Thirst" and "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance".
