One of France's 3 major papers had an interview with Hong Sang-soo and Kim Min-hee who are in Cannes with the movies "Claire's Camera" and "The Day After - 2017".

The paper introduced the two in the first sentence saying, "They disregarded the scandal by making the affair they have with each other official". The paper focused more on their relationship than the movies.

Hong Sang-soo was asked, "Your life and the movie are alike in many ways. However, why do you claim that the movie is not a biography?" and he answered, "I don't pick an element from my life to make a movie. I use the details that come from my heart to refine and combine them to make a story. This movie is made up of details and a squiggly line goes through the movie".

The paper stated that Hong Sang-soo implemented he wanted to talk about movies when he said, "I have had a dizzy headache for the past year".

The paper also mentioned the fact that the couple came out with the truth 9 months after the scandal broke out.

It also mentioned that this affair has led to the break off of any activities in Korea for Kim Min-hee.

About the announcement, Hong Sang-soo said, "The Korean media already knew. We didn't have a reason to hide it". Kim Min-hee sighed next to him.

The topic went onto their parents. Kim Min-hee's mother owns a food product store and her father was an ordinary office worker. Hong Sang-soo said, "My mother had many friends in literature and they all drank a lot".

Meanwhile, Hong Sang-soo and Kim Min-hee started secretly seeing each other while they made the movie "Right Now, Wrong Then" and worked on "On the Beach at Night Alone" and "Claire's Camera".
