Pianist of "Winter Sonata" Music to Hold Exhibition on Goguryo Art in Japan

Pianist "The Daydream" will hold an art exhibition in Japan with the main theme being murals of the Goguryo Kingdom. "The Daydream" gained great popularity when he recorded several pieces of music, including "Stepping on the Rainy Street", for the KBS TV drama "Winter Sonata". "Stepping on the Rainy Street" was the theme music for the drama's lead actress Choi Ji-woo.

Since then, he has been busy playing piano music in Korea and Japan. He is also writing poems and painting pictures. The public has been curious about him because he has rarely gone on the public stage.

The Daydream's exhibition entitled "The Light of Goguryo" will be held at the Public Information Center for the Korean Arts in Osaka, Japan from Apr. 18 through 28. His exhibition is attracting special attention because it will be held at a time when sentiments between the Korean and Japanese peoples have become aggravated by the Japanese Shimane prefectural council's enactment of "Takeshima Day" and Japan's historical distortions in school textbooks. Some 40 works, re-creations of Goguryo murals in a modern art style, will be on display for this exhibition, which will serve as an opportunity to allow the Japanese to learn the history of Goguryo.

During the exhibition, "The Daydream" will also give a mini-concert featuring some of his music from "Winter Sonata".
