PIFF Awards Foreigners for Promoting Korean Films

The organizing committee of the Pusan International Film Festival has awarded a Swiss and a Japanese official for their efforts to promote Korean cinema.

One awardee is Martial Knaebel, the French art director of Switzerland's Fribourg Film Festival who showcased Korean films and documentaries every year at the fest. The other is former senior official of Japan's Agency for Culture Affairs Ken Terawaki who was recognized for launching a festival of indepedent Korean films in Tokyo from 2004.

The committee also named famous Hong Kong actor and producer Andy Lau as the Asian filmmaker of the year.

The Pusan film fest will kick off in the southern port city on October 12th for a nine-day run.
