PIFF chooses "Yuhwa Sisters" for main poster

The Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF) organization committee decided to use "Yuhwa Sisters", a painting by Lee Man-ik, for the main poster design of its 10th festival scheduled for this October.

"Yuhwa Sisters" is based on a story about the Yuhwa sisters of Goguryeo Kingdom myth. The painting expresses well the story about the harmonized love and spirit of three maiden sisters with beautiful dreams.

The PIFF organization committee said it selected "Yuhwa Sisters" with hopes that the PIFF, soon marking its 10th anniversary, will "strengthen its foundation and leap forward in the world with the spirit of freedom and strength of the Yuhwa sisters".

Lee Man-ik was born in Haeju, Hwanghae Province in 1939. He studied at Goetz Academy in France and worked as an art director during the Seoul Olympics in 1988.
