PIFF to Highlight Lesser Known Asian Directors

The 13th Pusan International Film Festival will have a special screening section for films by three Asian directors who are not well known outside of their countries.

The directors to be introduced in the session are Thailand's Ratana Pestonji, Iran's Sohrab Shahid Saless and Indonesia's Teguh Karya.

Catalogs with biographies and critical essays will be published along with the screening of the eight films.

Ratana Pestonji is one of the most respected directors by leading personalities of Thailand's New Wave. Sohrab Shahid Saless is renowned for being respected by world-famous great film directors such as Abbas Kiarostami and Mohsen Makhmalbaf. Teguh Karya is praised for leading the golden period of Indonesian film development from the 1970s to '80s.
