Planning Series 1 Course of Education Center Marketer in Foreign Office

"The lecture rooms are 'So Hot' due to active trade of cultural business between Korean and the U.S".

An American branch office ( Head Chief: Hee-Seon Seo )of Korea Culture & Contents Agency has conducted education three times (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) for 4 weeks from November 3rd to 24th to train special marketers of cultural industry between Korea and America.

It has been conducted in a lecture room in LA Korean Cultural Center. It gave a good chance that people can understand cultural industries of Korean and America. The main purpose of this course is training specialists for cultural industry between Korea and America in the future.

This lecture has been conducted for Korean students and Americans (around 25 people) who have big possibilities to work for cultural businesses. It has been conducted with 10 topics including the present conditions of Korean and American cultural industries with Korean cultural enterprises' strategies in American market and potential of Korean cultural businesses in American Market.

As instructors, specialists of American cultural industry such as Roy Lee, a producer of 'Departed' which won 2007 Academy Award in 2007 and Stuart Volkow who is a consultant of entertainment were there. Nexon and CJ Entertainment, which are representative Korean enterprises which have been advanced to American market, have introduced their strategies based on their experience. The lecture has been considered as a valuable one by providing the present conditions of entertainment industry of Korea and America and trend as well.

Not only the above, but also there was a talk show with America's CG artists who are working for Dreamworks, Rhythm & Hues, and Disney. A scenario writer of 'Radio Star' and "Sunny", Choi Seok-hwan and producer of 'JSA - Joint Security Area' and 'D-War' have conducted the show and there had many positive responses because of the realistic and practical information by various masters of Korean and American cultural industries.

In the lecture, most of participants were those who are working for KBS America, SBS International, Helio, KT America and Korean students of UCLA and USC but some participants having various backgrounds like CEOs and Actors were also showed up and brought attention.

A student, Gyeong-Min Song, who is the president of KT America, commented, "It gave me a good help to figure about present conditions of Korean cultural industry which wants to advance to American market" and "I got a lot of knowledge about the market by taking the lecture and including discussions".

Na-Young Jin, a student of USC, commented, "I had a great time by learning about how to get marketing concepts and which promotion is necessary to make Korean culture as a brand through masters' opinions about Korean cultural businesses and incisive comments about Korea's cultural businesses".

After the ceremony of course completion, Korea Culture & Contents Agency prepared a networking party for those who completed the course. They had a chance to meet the people who have been working for cultural industry. It might be a good chance to build good relationship with the industries.

Hee-Seon Seo, the head chief of American office of Korea Culture & Contents Agency, said, "There were flood of questions even after the lecture, so the mood of lecture room was so active" and "From now on, I will try to develop human resources for cultural trade between Korea and America".
