Plus Miners Bibimbap Tasting Tour Coming to the U.S.

Known for promoting one of Korea's most famous traditional dishes, Bibimbap, around the world, the group of five young Korean professionals known collectively as Plus Miners is about to hit U.S. shores as part of their World Tour.

The group, whose world tour will span 40 countries across Asia, Europe, and the Americas, derives its name from their search for positive values, or plusses, of which there is no shortage in the depth and breadth of Korean cuisine. Bibmibap is considered a quintessentially Korean dish that harmonizes various ingredients and flavors into a unique combination of meat, vegetables, rice, and spice.

Plus Miners will arrive in the United States on August 4, with events in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, as part of their 100 Bibimbap Tables Project, sponsored by Korea's Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Korean Food Foundation, and Korean food corporation CJ (Cheil Jedang).

"This project was planned in order to promote our beautiful and healthy traditional Korean foods in major cities all around the world", said Kang Sang-kyun, the group's leader. "Starting with Beijing, China last April, we've held more than 40 Bibimbap Table Events throughout Asia and Europe".

Plus Miners' members-Kang, Kim Myeong-sik, Chung Kyu-woon, Kim Soo-chan, and Park Hyun-jin each left their careers in Korea to embark on a journey to promote bibimbap worldwide. The project is partially self-funded, along with several sponsorships.

"We have been preparing for this event for about nine months", said Kang. "We already have spent a month and a half in Asia and will be finishing up our fiftieth event in Europe shortly. We will begin our North America chapter in August".

"All the members are doing their best to prepare for the upcoming events", Kan added.

Plus Miners welcomes sponsors, supporters, and volunteers to help with transportation, publicity and lodging during their tour. For more information, visit the Plus Miners website (in Korean) at http://plusminers.blog.me/.
