Promising girl group Miss A returns with 1st regular album

In debuting in July last year with the song "Bad Girl, Good Girl", the Korean girl band Miss A was touted as one of the country`s most promising new talents. Living up to expectations, the group hit it big in September that year with "Breathe", which featured a more powerful dance.

In under a year, Miss A came back with its first regular album "A Class" with the title song "Goodbye Baby". Immediately upon release, the song topped various online billboard charts including Bugs and Dosirak. Miss A's distinctive style and powerful performance were again demonstrated in the song, with lyrics of saying goodbye to a lover coupled with powerful dance.

The Dong-A Ilbo interviewed Miss A at the Dong-A Media Center in central Seoul Wednesday. One of the members, Bae Suzy, said, "I was more nervous than when we released single albums. I feel so relieved that people like our new song. I really hope that we can maintain our ranking for a while".

The young girls looked tired because of lack of sleep after the release of their album, but jumped for joy when it hit the charts. They said they initially planned to release the album in May but postponed it because they wanted to perfect it.

Member Fei was absent at the interview because of a severe sore throat and fever.

Jia said, "It took three months to complete the choreography. We changed our dance about 10 times".

Miss A has been praised for its unique dance. When singing "Bad Girl, Good Girl", they lay down on the ground with their chins in their hands and shook their legs. "Breathe" featured shoulder shaking and leg bending, and they came back with a more unique dance for "Goodbye Baby".

The four members lay down on the ground with their legs high up on the air. The dance at the start of the song is also impressive, and they fall forward with their bellies on the ground and legs stretched backwards.

The amount of time and effort they poured into rehearsal is clearly evident. "We wanted to hear people say our performance is the best", Min said.

The song is about a boyfriend caught cheating by his girlfriend because he accidentally calls the name of another girl. The line "My name is not Bae Suzy" has gained explosive popularity among fans.

Bae Suzy peeks out among other members while the dancing is full of wit. Producer J.Y. Park created this idea.

"The dances perfectly match with the lyrics. It`ll be fun to see our performance", Jia said.

Among the members, Fei and Jia are Chinese. On if they find it difficult living in a foreign country, Jia said, "It is difficult. I have to get accustomed to Korean culture and language. I can't meet my family".

"My friends in China are still unaware of how popular Miss A is in Korea. I want to perform in China if chance allows".

The four members were apparently anxious over not releasing a regular album, but say they feel like they`ve become real singers since they released one.

They added that they are concerned because of their image built with single albums and higher fan expectations, but pledged to do their best.
