PSY received the Best Video award at the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards in Frankfurt, Germany on Sunday (local time). The gong is given to the most popular music video of the year in the continent. He beat other nominees like Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Katy Perry to become the first Asian artist to receive the award.

In his acceptance speech, PSY spoke in English and thanked all his fans, his agency YG Entertainment, Scooter Braun, who is in charge of PSY's global management, and his wife, who married him six years ago. Then he added, "Thank you", in Korean.

Before the awards, PSY appeared on stage performing his horse-riding dance from outside the hall as he gave a rendition of "Gangnam Style".

Meanwhile, as the music video to his hit song has attracted over 700 million hits on YouTube, it is now expected to soon edge out Justin Bieber's "Baby" (798.6 million hits), which is currently the most-viewed video in the history of the site.
