Pusan International Festival Invites Movies From 60 Countries

The 13th Annual Pusan International Film Festival is coming up starting on October second and lasting for one week.
Known for introducing up-and-coming movies from Asia including ones made in Korea this year the festival is attempting to try something new.
The aim is to expand the festival's focus outside of the region by tapping into countries with potential of producing great movies.
A total of 60 countries are participating.
The first movie to be introduced on opening day is from Kazakhstan "The Gift to Stalin" by director Rustem Abdrashev.
The story tells a Jewish boy's journey of hope in 1949 when Kazakhstan became the location for a nuclear test to celebrate Stalin's 70th birthday.

"Kazakhstan produces good movies but it's not receiving enough of the spotlight internationally. This is the reason why we took interest in the Kazakhstani film".

The ending movie for the festival is one from Korea "I Am Happy" by director Yoon Jong-chan which is based on a short story by the recently deceased writer Lee Cheong-joon.
For movie fans the festival will be the perfect place to check out films showing for the first time internationally.
85 movies will have their world premiere at the Festival while 48 films will make their international debut.
