According to Nielsen Media Research's ratings report the 17th episode of MBC Wednesday/Thursday drama "The Moon Embracing the Sun" (written by Jin Soo-wan, directed by Kim Do-hoon and Lee Seong-joon), broadcast on February 29th, averaged 36% of viewers nationally. Compared to the 16th episode's 41.3% this is a 5.3% drop.

Trying to maintain ratings above 40% after recording 41.3%, its highest numbers yet, this is a very large drop "The Moon Embracing the Sun"

In its time slot, the show was up against SBS's broadcast of the 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifying match between South Korea and Kuwait, which explains the drop. With a 21.1% viewership for the SBS sports show, Korea clearly showed its interest in the match.

On this episode of "The Moon Embracing the Sun", Lee Hwon (Kim Soo-hyun) found about about the existence of Heo Yeon-woo, beginning their romance began. After last week's failure by Lee Hwon, his kiss with Yeon-woo (Han Ga-in) during this episode caught many viewers' eyes.

In the same time slot, KBS 2TV's "Drama Special - Ordinary Love" earned 3.5% viewership.
