Record Numbers Take Korean Language Test

A record 15,983 foreigners took the 25th Test of Proficiency in Korean on Sunday. The TOPIK has been conducted since 1997 and has been offered four times a year since 2010.

It was conducted at 14 locations across the country including Seoul, Busan, and Jeju. The number of test-takers on Sunday was about double the number of 8,233 who took the 21st TOPIK in January last year.

The number of applicants increased from about 74,300 in 2008 to some 121,500 in 2011.
