2006/06/12 Source

A Hollywood remake of "A Tale of Two Sisters" starring Lim Soo-jung and Moon Geun-young will begin shooting three years after DreamWorks made a surprise purchase of the film's remake rights for 1 million dollars, U.S. entertainment site Hollywood Report said.

The internet entertainment news site said that the Korean movie is another horror movie that DreamWorks hurriedly bought remake rights to after earning a significant amount of income with the remake of the Japanese horror movie "Ring".

The remake will be directed by Tom and Charlie Guard, who have gained their reputation filming commercials, and adopted by Craig Rosenberg, who wrote the screenplay for the movie "Jurassic Park 3". The DreamWorks version will focus on two teenage sisters, Anna and Alex, who return from a mental hospital only to face struggles with their cruel stepmother and clueless father as well as a lingering ghost.

The Guard brothers studied film at Cambridge University in Britain and produced several short films together. The movie will be their debut feature.

"A Tale of Two Sisters" was a box office hit that drew over 3 million viewers when it was released here in 2003. The horror thriller deals with conflict between a stepmother and two sisters played by young actresses Im and Moon, who received favorable reviews for their acting.
