Rep. You in fights against actress-related rumors

TV host-turned-lawmaker You Jung-hyun of the ruling Grand National Party (GNP) filed a complaint with the Yeongdeungpo Police Station, asking officers to find who was spreading "malicious rumors" linking him to a popular actress.
Rep. You submitted a copy of a leaflet containing the rumor, which had been circulated around the offices of the Korea Exchange, to police asking them to find the source.
"You felt victimized by the rumor", one of his aides said. "Since it was groundless, it won't affect his work, but it could harm his family and so we decided to request an investigation".
The actress' agency said she did not even know You. "The rumor is totally groundless. We will not take any action against it, but hope a police investigation will right the wrong", an agency representative said.
The leaflet You handed over to police is frequently distributed among stock traders and includes information on the business and entertainment world. It has been a major source of many rumors involving entertainers.
In 2008, it was cited as one of the reasons that drove renowned actress Choi Jin-sil to commit suicide.

TV 진행자에서 현 한나라당 의원인 유정현 의원이 영등포 경찰서에 자신을 유명 여자 연예인과 관련 "악의적인 루머"를 퍼뜨린 사람을 찾아달라고 경찰에 수사를 요청했다.
유 의원은 증권선물거래소 사무실 주위에 돌고 있는 이 같은 루머가 담긴 정보지를 제출했으며 경찰에 유포자가 누구인지 찾아달라고 요청했다.
유 의원의 보좌관은 "유 의원은 루머 때문에 괴로워하고 있다"며 "근거 없는 소문이기에 의원직에는 지장이 없을 것 이지만 가족에게는 피해가 갈 수 있기 때문에 수사를 요청하기로 결정했다"고 말했다.
해당 여성 배우의 소속사측은 그녀가 유 의원을 전혀 알지 못한다고 밝혔다. "이 루머는 전혀 근거가 없다. 우리는 어떠한 행동도 취하지 않을 것이지만 경찰 수사가 이 일을 바로잡기를 바란다"고 소속사측 대표는 말했다.
유 의원이 경찰 측에 건넨 이 정보지는 비즈니스와 연예계에 관련된 정보로서 종종 증권 거래자들 사이에 떠돌아 다니며 연예인 관련 소문의 근원지가 되어왔다.
2008년 유명 여배우 최진실을 자살로 몰고 간 이유중의 하나도 이 때문이었다.
