Robot Hubo Emerges as Hallyu Star

The Korean robot Hubo has vigorously been traveling all over the world since its launch. Last year, Hubo traveled overseas six times, including a trip to the Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy. The robot has also appeared on TV shows five times for the U.S. broadcasters CNN and ABC and the U.K. broadcaster BBC, and attended a game EXPO in Spain this year in July. Early next year, Hubo will attend the Nestfest exhibition in Los Angeles, USA.

Those are impressive achievements given that research for Hubo's development began in 2002 with a total investment of just 50 million won. Hubo has emerged as a hallyu star and a symbol of Korea's progress in robot development.

Hubo's success is largely ascribed to its "father", KAIST Professor Oh Jun-ho, who implemented PR strategies targeting niche markets and chose the right timing to launch those strategies.
