Hallyu star Ryu Si-won will start his concert tour across Japan on Saturday, his agency R's Company said Thursday. Tickets for the eight concerts in four cities have already sold out.

The 37-year-old, popular in Japan as a balladeer, will start his tour in Tokyo's Super Arena and continue on to Nagoya, Yokohama and Osaka.

The tour, titled "5th Anniversary Live ― Thank You and a New Beginning", fetes his fifth year as a singer in Japan.

Since 2005 Ryoo has released 17 albums and singles, and has given five concert tours. Last year, he gave 30 performances in 18 cities, including two Christmas shows in the Tokyo Dome that attracted over 80,000 fans.

The upcoming performances will showcase songs from his recent recordings, "Memu", his 10th single released on Oct. 7, and "Manhwagyeong" (Kaleidoscope), his sixth album that hit stores on Nov. 4.

The latter album was successfully received, ranking fourth in Oricon's daily album chart and fifth in the weekly album chart. The Oricon chart is Japan's foremost music chart. "Manhwagyeong" was produced by Tube's Haruhata Maeda and features mostly love songs.

"I've had various love experiences so I was able to strongly relate to the emotions expressed in the songs", Ryoo was quoted as saying in an interview with Oricon.

The lyrics for the track "Like the First Time" were inspired by his own experience.

The singer is reportedly rehearsing rigorously in Tokyo, despite recent spinal disc problems. Ryoo recently starred in the Korea's SBS TV series "Style", which marked his comeback after a long hiatus from working mostly in Japan.
