S. Korea, Indonesia Celebrate 40 Years of Friendship

An event commemorating the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between South Korea and Indonesia kicked off on Friday, marking the year of friendship between the two countries.

Ahn Hong-joon, chairman of the National Assembly's committee on foreign affairs, trade and unification, said in an address that he was certain the two countries would prosper together based on the achievements of the past forty years.

KBS President Gil Hwan-young also said Indonesia was expected to be the hub of a new wave of Korean culture. Gil also said KBS would work towards the active culture exchange between the two countries through high-quality culture contents.

Roughly 500 participants were at the event held at the Kartika Expo Center in Jakarta, including Indonesian residents and Indonesian lawmaker Irman Gusman.
