San Diego Fest selects 7 Korean films

A total of seven Korean features will be showcased to California audiences at the upcoming 11th San Diego Asian Film Festival, set to run Oct. 21 – 28. The fest will screen 140 films from 20 countries with a line-up of both commercial and art house favorites.

Korean films in the program run the full spectrum of genres, with big-budget Korean war drama "71-Into the Fire", directed by John H. Lee; Cannes-selected orphanage drama "A Brand New Life" by French-Korean-adoptee Ounie Lecomte; Berlinale screener "Actresses", a celebrity mockumentary by Lee Jae-yong; acclaimed independent feature "Bandhobi" by Shin Dong-il; commercial comedy "Good Morning President" by writer-director Jang Jin; stretch-and-gasp horror "Yoga" by Yoon Jae-yeon; and adoptee documentary Resilience by Korean-American director Tammy Chu.

Also in the program is Hirokazu Koreeda's award-winning feature Air Doll starring Korean actress Bae Doona, and the Seoul-set Japanese feature "Cafe Seoul" by director Take Masaharu and a cast of both Korean and Japanese actors.
