SBS will be breaking away the SBS Drama Headquarters within March. This is a method of moving personnel from the drama headquarters to the SBS subsidiary The Story Works. The CEO of The Story Works is Han Jung-hwan, director of SBS Drama Headquarters.

SBS pushed for this move with the aim of launching early last year. This having fallen through, this time, it is highly likely to be discussed as a way to move the staff of the drama headquarters to The Story Works.

Last year, SBS stepped up its preparations for independence from the drama headquarters, with high approval ratings among the members of the drama HQ. While a majority of the members of the headquarters voted against it in late 2018 in the voting for the move, it passed the majority in the December 2019 vote.

"We will secure excellent production elements and produce super-IP dramas through the drama studio, which is scheduled to be launched in the first quarter", said Park Jung-hoon, president of SBS, in his New Year's message. The dramas that SBS has released this year have been drawing attention from the start of the year.

The recent drama "Stove League" ended with 19.1%, while "Dr. Romantic 2" rated 27.1% at its best. Kim Hye-soo's "Hyena", Kim Seo-hyung's "Nobody Knows", Kim Hee-sun's "Alice" and Choi Kang-hee's "Good Casting" are next in line-up.
