DICON 2006 held on Sept. 18 and 19... joined by many Korean cultural contents specialists

Business knowhow on Korean cultural contents including "The Host"which is still rewriting the history of Korean films that have garnered huge success in Korea and other countries is about to be revealed in an international conference on cultural contents.

Consisting of three tracks--'Creative Planning', 'Marketing Strategies', and 'New Media and Platforms'--DICON 2006, as in previous years, will be participated in by many cultural contents specialists who are heroes of success stories in box offices and cultural contents markets in Korea and other countries.

Besides Bong Joon-ho, director of "The Host", Lee Soo-Man, executive director of SM Entertainment, and Min Yong-Jae, general marketing director of NEXON, the conference organizers have invited CEO, China's largest mobile company; Terrence Chang, who helped stage the successful debut of John Woo, director of Mission Impossible II and Face Off; Orion Ross, Vice-president of Cartoon Network from the US; and many other influential figures in the business who will take the stage and give a lecture.

In addition to regular conference events, DICON 2006 will also offer Licensing Academy, a course for future business specialists in cultural contents. Followed by the success of the program last year, the course, on its second year, will be participated in by Danny Simon, CEO of The Licensing Group, as a guest lecturer. Those who will complete the course will be awarded a certificate of completion. Also to be held are Biz Mentoring, which will offer one-on-one consulting with Korean and foreign specialists, and Casual Talk, in which lecturers and the audience will discuss various issues freely.

"Now on its sixth year, DICON has become one of the most important international conferences on cultural contents, and represents Asia's rich cultural contents", said Suh, Byung-Moon, CEO of the Korea Culture and Content Agency (KOCCA). "We expect DICON to offer Korean cultural contents companies many opportunities to advance into the world market".
