Shinhwa's Kim Dong-wan to Star in KBS Series

Shinhwa member Kim Dong-wan, 27, has all the reasons to be called an "actor". Kim received rave reviews for his previous roles in the movie "Taekwon Boys" - "Spin Kick" and the KBS series "Children of Heaven".

This time, Kim will appear in the KBS TV2 weekend series "A Farewell to Sorrow", which is to premiere June 11 following its predecessor, "Precious Family". He will play "Han Jung-woo", the youngest of the four brothers of a bankrupt family. The story is about four siblings who have completely different personalities but who rediscover their brotherly affection as they unite to lift their family from dire straits.

Kim described his character in three words: "zest", "hope" and "health". Jung-woo fails to find a job after graduating from a provincial college and ends up taking a part-time job. Kim says his character is a healthy young man who is passionate and zestful, and refuses to give up hope despite his failure to achieve anything meaningful in life. Such a description is reminiscent of Kim's positive and easy-going personality in real life.

Kim says he felt responsible for many things as he was preparing for his new role, and even analyzed the script, which he never did for his previous roles. It is no exaggeration to say that through this role Kim will receive his first serious evaluation of his acting skills. His previous movie, "Taekwon Boys", - "Spin Kick" failed to attract much attention, and the series "Children of Heaven" drew few viewers as well. And another part he had in the series "Trembling Heart", which received favorable reviews, was too small to properly evaluate him as an actor.

Kim said he chose "A Farewell to Sorrow" because he wanted a long-lasting role. As one who has dreamed of becoming an actor since childhood, Kim says he would devote his life to acting rather than singing if he had the opportunity.
