Shinhwa to Make Comeback After Four-Year Break

The longest-lived idol group Shinhwa will make a comeback after a four-year break by releasing their 10th album and holding a concert in March with support from CJ E&M. They will release their album around the middle of March and hold a concert to commemorate their comeback from March 24 to 25 at Olympic Gymnastic Stadium.

Shinhwa debuted in March, 1998 and they began to take a break after finishing their concert to celebrate their 10th anniversary in March, 2008, as some of the group members had to join the army. During their last concert, the group members promised their comeback four years later, saying, "As we began our group with six members, we will also finish our group with all six members". They have come to keep their promise with their comeback. The group members have prepared their comeback since last year, and they jointly established the Shinhwa Company last year with funding from the group members while two members, Eric Mun and Lee Min-woo, were seated as representatives of the company. CJ E&M will be in charge of album distribution as well as holding concerts in Seoul and Japan, and Open World Entertainment, which possesses the copyrights to Shinhwa, will be in charge of holding their Asia concert tour.

The group members are now recording their new album. A person from the Shinhwa Company said on January 26, "We have requested songs to many music composers from last year, and the members are now recording them. We will present Shinhwa's music while following the music trends at the same time. We are planning to film the music video next month". Shinhwa will hold a large scale concert with the support of CJ E&M in which they will sing their new songs and previous hit songs. The day when the concert will be held, March 24, is actually the 14th anniversary of their debut, so the members will also celebrate their 14th anniversary during the concert. Shinhwa will begin holding activities in earnest from early March when group member Lee Min-woo will be discharged from the army as the last member. They will hold the press conference on March 5 and announce their plans for the album and Asian concert tour.

In addition, there will be many promotional activities held from this month. The Shinhwa Company recently opened their official Twitter account and they will place a placard reading "Shinhwa, we keep our promise" on a street in Gangnam from January 27. A person from the Shinhwa Company explained, "The sentence written on the placard means that Shinhwa will keep their promise of coming back to their fan club entitled 'Shinhwa Creation', which they made when they held the concert celebrating their 10th anniversary. There are many idol groups, but Shinhwa's comeback means something significant as the group has been maintained for more than ten years without changing any of their group members".
