Shinsegae to Build Korea's Biggest Mall in Hanam

Shinsegae Group will open a new multiplex shopping mall in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province around September.

The group said Tuesday the mall will be the country's biggest shopping multiplex with a dining area bigger than the Olympic stadium in Jamsil, Seoul.

It will have four stories above ground and another four below.

The mega mall will house a lot of luxury brand stores and even car showrooms including BMW, Hyundai and Harley Davidson.

It will have a Shinsegae Department store and wholesale retailer E-mart Traders at each end.

Outdoor swimming pools and spas will be housed on the rooftop, while the fourth floor will have a sports area with badminton, basketball and tennis courts.

Shinsegae is hoping to draw families and let shoppers linger longer.

"We expect the new shopping mall to satisfy our customers' various needs as it is the culmination of Shinsegae's retail know-how", group CEO Chung Yong-jin said.
