MBC Radio said on Tuesday, "He will begin hosting the program from the end of October when we revamp our regular line-up this fall".

In July, Joo appeared on the popular MBC talk show "Golden Fishery" and expressed his desire to return to TV. He is also being considered as a possible replacement for top host Kang Ho-dong on the show. Kang recently announced his decision to take a break for personal reasons following accusations that he evaded taxes.

Joo debuted as a comedian in 1977 and hosted several popular programs on MBC. He set up his own company producing underwear in the mid 1990s and ended up leaving the entertainment field after becoming embroiled in a number of lawsuits.

Meanwhile, the management agency of singer Yoon Do-hyun, who has been hosting "2PM's Date" until now, issued a statement saying that "MBC unexpectedly requested that Yoon switch to another program as a new host has been chosen. Yoon was deeply insulted by this 'take it or leave it' offer".
