Kim was caught smoking in the lavatory of a Korean Air flight from Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport to Incheon International Airport on Dec. 15.

The singer, who is a vocal activist for various social causes, claimed he lit up in order to relieve stress caused by the cancelation of a European concert tour.

Prosecutors only slapped him with a fine because he admitted the offense when a flight attendant caught him and it was his first.
