Popular singer and actor Lee Hyun-woo-I held a solo demonstration on the top of Mt. Bukan, Sunday, to protest the government plan to build a cable car on the ridges of the mountain in Seoul, said the National Park Conservation Network Monday.

The environmental civic group said on its Web site that Lee took part in the campaign to protest over the environment as a means to pay back the love he has received from his fans.

"It is a big blessing that there is Mt. Bukan in Seoul. I often go to the mountain when I face some difficult things", he was quoted as saying by the organization.

Lee plans to participate in a concert hosted by the organization on Saturday as part of its campaigns against the construction of the cable car.

His protest rally will be aired in an MBC Special program in early November.

Lee, born in 1966, made his debut with "Black Rainbow", an album based on soul music and an instant success with the song " Dream ". Since then, he has also performed as a radio DJ and an actor.
