The 36-year-old woman, who is also the sister-in-law of actor Gong Hyung-jin, was stabbed in the left side of her body and died after being rushed to a nearby hospital.

The baseball player, who is with the LG Twins, is being treated for a wound in his abdomen.

Gangnam police said the assailant, a 38-year-old man, has been arrested. He was apparently sitting next to the victims at the bar.

According to police, the pair and three others were drinking at the bar when they were told the assailant, identified only by his surname Jegal, to stop being so loud. This led to a scuffle, and Jegal left the bar to retrieve a knife from his Mercedes before going back in.

Chae Ri-na, a member of the once-popular dance group Roo'ra, was also at the scene, but she was not injured.

Jegal, who had been drinking alone, fled the scene in his car, but was arrested near his home in Dongjak district 16 hours later.
