SM Entertainment Fires Back On Negative Song Rating

SM Entertainment is speaking out against being rated "inappropriate/bad media" for allegedly setting a bad example for teens through one of their group's song lyrics.

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family stated that the SM Entertainment project group, SM Ballad's song "Tomorrow..." featured lines such as "I get drunk to not miss you" and "when I fall asleep drunk, I dream". The governmental department said that this offered alcoholic references for young children or teens that was inappropriate.

The entertainment giant is insisting that this is an unreasonable judgment on the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family's part. In fact, SM went as far as to say that they could not accept this decision. Following a representative's statement, he said, "It's unreasonable to put such a rating on a song just because of alcohol related lyrics. When doing that, you're impeding on creative writing by focusing on just one word and not looking at it in the entire context of things".

When a song is rated as inappropriate for teens, the album is required to warn parents or buyers through a red sticker with the number 19. This bans those under the age of 19 from purchasing the album. Also, this affects how freely the song can be played on public media.
