On the 30th, JTBC distributed a statement that began with "JTBC reiterates the position to resolve the misunderstanding of speculation and criticism that still continues after the announcement of the position on the drama "Snowdrop".

"The current controversy stems from fragmentary information consisting of a combination of unfinished synopsis and a part of the character introduction. Suspicions have been added to fragmented information, and non-factual information is being spread as fact". JTBC said, "We want to ask for understanding by revealing some of the contents of "Snowdrop"".

This is JTBC's official position.

JTBC repeatedly expresses its position on the controversy over the drama "Snowdrop".

JTBC reiterates the position to resolve the misunderstanding of speculation and criticism that still continues after the announcement of the position on the drama "Snowdrop".

The current controversy stems from fragmentary information consisting of a combination of unfinished synopsis and a part of the character introduction. Suspicions have been added to fragmented information, and non-factual information is being spread as fact. Of course, this is the responsibility of the production team for failing to thoroughly manage unrefined data.

In response, JTBC wants to ask for understanding by disclosing some of the contents of "Snowdrop".

1. We'd like to talk about the controversy over disparaging the democratic movement. "Snowdrop" is not a drama that deals with democratic movements. The setting in which the lead male and female participate in or lead democratic movements does not exist anywhere in the script. Rather, there is a character who was unfairly suppressed as a spy under the military regime in the 1980s.

2. The background and the motif of the drama is not the democratic movement, but the political situation of the 1987 presidential election. A fictional story is told about the military regime and the security organization conspires with the North Korean dictatorship to maintain power.

3. Against this backdrop, a South agent and a pursuer are the main characters. They are not representatives of each government or organization. They are characters that highlight the negative desire for power to re-create the regime and the critical view of the Agency for National Security Planning. Therefore, the point that espionage activities or the Agency for National Security Planning is glorified is irrelevant.

4. The reason why the agent is described as 'straight as an arrow' is because he refused a powerful domestic part, and felt disillusionment towards his colleagues who don't 'capture' spies but 'make them up' and signs up for an overseas part. The figure is also portrayed as a man of principles who turns his back on the corrupt organization and does what he thinks is right until the end.

5. The character's name setting in the play has nothing to do with Cheon Young-cho. However, since some pointed out that they resemble each other, we will revise the name of the character involved.

Based on the above information, please refrain from misleading public opinion by wrapping up false information about the upcoming drama as if it were a given fact from now on. We hope you recognize that it's an act that shrinks a lot of creators who want to make a good work.

JTBC will do its best to get a good evaluation with the completed drama.
