Sookmyeong Pre-sold for Yearly High

Upcoming film titled Sookmyeong (English translation: "Fate") has been pre-sold for this year's highest sum. The Japanese film company Formula entertainment obtained the Japanese rights from the Korean nTorino for US$ 2 million.

Korean film exports have been slow this year and the sum payed for Sookmyeong is not particularly high compared to sales figures from previous years. Especially sales to Japan have been under pressure, however, films starring popular Hallyu stars like KWON and Bae Yong-joon are still in demand in Japan.

Sookmyeong is an action noir in the hands of director Kim Hae-gon. The film revolves around a group of friends and explores the darker side of friendship. Filming is halfway.

KWON ("Almost Love", Spirit of Jeet Keun Do: "Once Upon A Time In Highschool") plays the lead and he is supported by his friend Song Seung-heon ("The Guy was Cool"). KIM wrote the acclaimed scenario for "Failan" and directed "Between Love and Hate" ("The Unbearable Lightness of Dating").
