Spicy Foods Burn More Calories

People on a diet are especially sensitive to how many calories they consume, but few realize that it is also important how easily those calories can be absorbed and metabolized by their body. In other words, the kind of food eaten is just as important as the number of calories it contains.

For example, sweating while eating spicy or hot food causes the body's metabolism to speed up, meaning that calories are burned up at a faster rate and less fat accumulated in the body. A piece of cake and a bowl of instant noodles may have 500 kcal each, but the latter is a better choice when it comes to burning calories.

While nutrition labels on products often indicate the amount of calories, it is harder to gauge what the result will be in terms of stored weight. Taking into account just how much the food causes one to perspire while consuming it is a good way of making diets more effective.
