Jeong-ae was a housewife with no social experience, struggling with the debt her missing husband left behind. Her sister's friend, Ja Yoon (Baek Jin-hee), disguised her as Wang Mi-ae to help her land a job as Hwang Bo-yool's (Lee Won-geun's) assistant.
While Jeong-ae worked as Hwang Bo-yool's assistant, she received a surprising call. Hwang Bo-yool asked if Wang Jeong-ae was her sister. The person who called was Choi Kang-woo (Yoo Ji-tae) from Taeyang Insurance. (This is a reference to Yoo Ji-tae's recent roll in "Mad Dog" as an insurance fraud investigator.)
Kang-woo pointed out that Jeong-ae had applied for insurance six months before her husband went missing and warned her that there would be an investigation. Ja Yoon saw that Jeong-ae was frightened told her the truth.
In a flashback we see that Jeong-ae cried in confusion, but her husband Park Joon-pyo (Jeon Seok-ho) said, "I am leaving to another country. I'm sick of you pretending not to know anything. You know I have another family in Seoul. I am tired of managing two families and it's not fair to you, too".
Joon-pyo showed her some papers and said, "Look I'm trying to be a father at least. If I leave with the other woman I want you to report me missing. By the time Gun-woo is old enough for university in five years, all this money will be his. I have been very calculative. However, I need to take the money we have at the moment".
In tears, she begged him not to leave, but Joon-pyo left expecting her to do as she was told. Jeong-ae ripped the insurance papers he gave her and yelled at the family picture hanging on the wall.
Ja Yoon, Ma Bona (Cha Joo-yeong), and Park Kyeong-rae (Jeong Hae-in) were shocked to hear her story and her son Park Gun-woo (Jeong Joon-won) overheard the whole thing. He threw the family picture in the trash can.
