On the second episode of the new MBC drama "The Night Watchman's Journal", Lee Rin (Jung Il-woo) brought out the craziness in his father, Hae Jong (Choi Won-young).

Hae Jong prevented an attack of ghosts from happening in peaceful Joseon, ordered by Sadam (Kim Sung-oh). He then set out on an expedition to look for a legendary flower that only a Mago Witch could make bloom; however, the Witch had put a spell on the flower.

Hae Jong completely changed as soon as he saw the flower. His mild nature disappeared and he began to cruelly murder his men and even acted nastily to Queen Min (Song Yi-woo), whom he was usually was fond of. Jo Sang-heon (Yoon Tae-young) saw the ghost tracker move in front of Hae Jong and by then he was certain that he had been possessed.

Sadam, who had been knocked out by Hae Jong, was revived due to Yeon-ha's death. He said, "I won't allow Hae Jong to live. I am going to put your children's and mother's blood on your sword".

At Lee Rin's crowning of prince, Hae Jong demanded bloodshed, but Lee Rin refused and Hae Jong put a sword to him. The Queen and Song Ne-gwan (Lee Se-chang) stepped in between them and Hae Jong cut Song Ne-gwan's back without mercy. The crowning of the prince was postponed. Everyone started to tremble with fear at Hae Jong's lunacy.
