Events and festivals are planned at six mountains in the city including Mt. Eungbong and Mt. Nam and a dozen mountains on the outskirts including Mt. Bukhan, Mt. Dobong and Mt. Gaehwa.

According to the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute, the first sunrise of next year will be at 7:47 a.m. in Seoul.

Mt. Acha is a popular spot to watch the first sunrise as it is easy to climb, so it attracts about 50,000 visitors every year on New Year's day.

A couple of parks in the city will offer various events and performances to celebrate the New Year. For more detailed information, visit the Seoul Metropolitan Government's website at www.seoul.go.kr/story/sunrise.
