The nation's top actress and actor have been sued for alleged contract breach.

A drama production firm filed a lawsuit against Go Hyun-jung, starring MBC's hit soap opera "Queen Seon-deok", in April, demanding she pay contract money back and penalty, according to the Seoul Central District Court Friday.

Ko was cast for the production agency's drama "Daemul" ("King of Ambition") in March last year and made a contract with the firm. But the shooting and airing of the soap opera has been delayed due to a broadcaster's circumstances, and she appeared in "The Great Queen Seondeok" instead.

"Ko decided on the new drama without consulting with us. We demand she pay 560 million won in contract money and damages for breach of trust", the company claimed in the complaint.

It claimed that it could have signed a contract with another broadcaster if she had not appeared in the MBC drama.

Ko's agency said that the company has never told her about how the production of "Daemul" ("King of Ambition") was going on, adding she would appear in the soap opera after "Queen Seon-deok", anytime when the company is ready for shooting.

Actor kwon Sang-woo was also sued over a picture book.

Code and Associates, a photo production company, recently demanded Kwon pay 3 billion won in compensation, claiming he did not abide by the contract for the photo album.

"We made a contract with Kwon in August 2005 to publish a photo essay book. But he did not keep the photographing schedule three times. He also promised to provide us with photos of his childhood and his own paintings, but he did not", the firm said in the complaint.

Kwon claimed that he faithfully fulfill the contract, having additional photographing several times. He said he will take a legal response to it after consulting with his lawyer.
