Super Junior, miss A Albums Top Sellers in 2010

Boy band Super Junior's latest album "Miinah (Bonamana)" ranked No. 1 among Korean pop albums sold during 2010, the Korea Music Content Association announced earlier this week.
Girl group miss A's "Bad Girl Good Girl" took first place on the online rankings and veteran artist Lee Seung-chul's "Geu Saram (That Person)" led the mobile category, of the Gaon Chart, which The Korea Herald describes as "the Korean national record chart similar to U.S. Billboard charts". Gaon means "center" in Korean.The honors were awarded by Culture Minister Choung Byoung-gug at the Press Center in Seoul on Feb. 9.

The newspaper explained: "Under the sponsorship by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korea Music Content Association collects album sales data from eight major music service providers ― LOEN Entertainment, SM Entertainment, Sony Music Korea, Warner Music Korea, Universal Music, Mnet Media, Pony Canyon Korea and KT Music ― for the offline album chart. For the online chart, the number of downloads, background music (BGM) sales and streaming services from Melon, Soribada, Bugs, Dosirak, Cyworld and Mnet are collected. For the mobile chart, it calculates the number of ringtones people downloaded onto their mobile phones".
