Supporters 'Gave W20 Million to Actress in Infidelity Scandal'

Some supporters of President Moon Jae-in who are opposed to newly elected Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung gave over W20 million to actress Kim Boo-sun, who claims she had an extramarital affair with Lee a decade ago (US$1=W1,097).

The scandal erupted shortly before last week's local elections but failed to dent support for Lee, who won with over 50 percent.

The donations were made by people who wanted the ruling Minjoo Party to change its candidate in Gyeonggi Province. They accused Lee's wife Kim Hye-gyeong of insulting Moon in the past and posted the actress' bank details online last week to solicit donations.

Since then, more than W20 million have poured into the account.

Lee's camp said is considering suing the actress for defamation.�
