Survey Points to Students' Shifting Career Preferences

Some traditional lines of jobs are losing popularity among youngsters amid a shift in career preferences, a survey shows.

The Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training surveyed 27,000 elementary, middle and high school students.

One of the new entrants in this year's top 10 preferred jobs was "YouTuber", which was among the top five for elementary school students. Other new jobs on the list were hair designer, makeup and nail artist, and tattoo artist.

Being a teacher, which used to be a favorite occupation, was less popular this year. It is still the most sought-after job among middle and high school students, but has fallen in popularity over the past 10 years.

Among elementary students, being an athlete took the top spot as the most desired job.
