Taoist Mutul and Deputy Mu to be made as animated feature-length films

The winners of the 2007 Excellent Pilot, recently announced by the Korea Culture and Content Agency (KOCCA, CEO: Suh, Byung-Moon), are the current talk of the nation. With popular cartoon and characters and tight, exciting storylines using various materials and well-finished production methods, these excellent pilot winners are expected to become very popular and to infuse new vitality into the industry.

Deputy Mu, a hugely popular newspaper cartoon, is to be made into an animated film. Touted as "the first adult animation sitcom", Deputy Mu is about the joys and sorrows of white collar workers in Korea as seen through the daily life of Deputy Mu, who works in the Business Department of Ilryu Manufacturing, Inc.

Also to be made as feature-length animations are: Wind and a Day, a story of friendship between a girl who wants to see the legendary island, an old pony, and a stray dog; Energy Racer Paru, a story of four Energy Racers who strive to make non-polluting energy; Make the Princess Laugh, based on the tale, "Crybaby Princess"; and Myoo the Strange Cat, an animated adaptation of "Myoo from Raska".

Of particular interest is the fact that these Excellent Pilot winners were highly acclaimed by foreign animation industries. "Overall, these winning works showcase excellent storylines and character design, along with the backing of high-quality business and marketing plans", said the jury of the 2007 Excellent Pilot Project.
