"The Fatal Encounter" attitude towards mass media

A staff member of "The Fatal Encounter" crew said, "Lee Jae-gyoo? He drinks beers at home all day". The criticism from mass media have put the director and cast in a sense of shame. The unexpected reviews of the movie have been made public for the past 3~4 days.

The movie was nicknamed, "Hyun Bin's comeback" and "Lee Jae-gyoo's meaningful movie" but everyone's reaction towards the movie was cold. 'Too much has been put into the movie', 'Complicated stories and organization of characters' and such are parts of the reviews.

"The Fatal Encounter" is no longer the director's movie even without recognition. The mass media is the informant and the audiences' reaction for the next 30 days. If it satisfies the value and exchange then there's hope, otherwise it's just downhill for the movie.

The interesting thing is the attitude of the crew and cast. Occasionally, everyone is busy blaming each other in a group project like this, but this time everyone is blaming themselves. Director Lee Jae-gyoo said, "If the movie doesn't succeed, it's my fault. I am grateful to the staff and cast for doing their best". Writer Choi Seong-hyeon said, "The criticism is because of the story written by me. Everyone else did their best. I cried so much watching the movie and I respect everyone".

Hyun Bin and Jung Jae-young even said, "The mass media has pointed out some clear facts but what's more important is how the audience will see our movie". Han Ji-min who appears as Queen Jeong-soon, is using KakaoTalk to send links and videos of favorable comments to the directors and crew. Kim Sung-ryung, Park Sung-woong and Jung Eun-chae in "The Target" which is being released on the same day, are also on the same boat as them.

There was news that made them smile on the other hand. The regular previewing of the movie with 4,000 audiences received a standing ovation. Not including Hyun Bin and Cho Jung-seok's fan club, "The Fatal Encounter" has earned an army. All promotional events have been cancelled for mourning but plans for interviews are being carefully mentioned. Round 2 for next month will include the release of "Human Addiction" and "Godzilla 2", which are being prepared right now.

"The Fatal Encounter" has a 60% ticket sales record and the number adds up to 60,000 people. Lotte Entertainment has been experiencing a drought in successful movies but hopefully "The Fatal Encounter" will ring in some good news.
